The Remaining May Happenings

So many things happened all at once or with in close proximity of each other so I thought that I would just post the pictures of the remainder of our May. Who doesn't just like to look at teh pictures anyway? I'm not sure that people read what you write anyway.:) It was filled with picnics to the park, bar-b-ques with friends, the end of the school year for Brooklyn, and just everyday ordinary things that make our life just perfect. Enjoy...

Brooklyn & Mrs. Trigsted (Wendy to me)- since Brooklyn's b-day is in June, so gets to 'celebrate' her 'un-birthday' in May and bring in birthday treats.:)

Mother's Day

We were able to be with my Mother this year for Mother's Day and that was extra special. We drove down to Nampa on Friday evening and got in quite late. We hadn't been down for such a long time that the kids and I could hardly wait to get there. And even though we were only there for a little over 24 hours it was wonderful to be with my family again and to get to celebrate my Mom by being with her.

On Saturday, my Mom, the kids, and me went 'flower shopping'. It has been my tradition for the past several years to buy and then plant all of my Mom's pots that are on her back patio. It seems to be the guft that keeps on giving because she is then able to enjoy them for the rest of the summer.:)My kids LOVE to help me plant and I enjoy helping out my Mom in this way.

Brook and the kids made sure that I was well taken care of as well. Brooklyn & Brittan gave me some beautiful fresh cut flowers and Brook got me a new cell phone and a fountian for my front flower beds. I loved the flowers from the kids, have thoroughly enjoyed my new cell phone, and when we finally have time to put in the new fountian, it will be wonderful as well.

School Campout

CCS has a wonderful tradition of an all school Campout at the end of each school year. Although I think that they need to have it at the beginning of the year, it is still a fun trip and one that my daughter and I won't soon forget!

The plan is to arrive at Field Springs at about 1:00 and that is exactly what we did. The kids hit the ground running, once they had received proper instruction. They built forts, hiked, ran, chased, did everything you can possible imagine before it started to snow and they headed inside for craft time. One of the moms in Brooklyn's class was in charge of crafts and she did a wonderful job. There was everything from Kool Aid play dough, to coloring, to rock painting, games, or making beaded key chains. As soon as the weather cleared again, those that wanted to go back outside did while others stayed in and crafted.

I have been on alot of campouts, but this one was one of the most organized I have been to. Kindergarten - 3rd grade were at this particular campsite, 42 kids total and everything went off without a hitch. I thought that the parents would have to spend most of the time working and preparing food, etc., but instead we sat around and visited. It was so relaxing. Even the parents that were in charge of the kitchen were relaxed. It was a total team effort and I loved seeing and being a part of this very organized event.

Most everyone stayed the night, but since we were leaving for Nampa the following day, I just decided to stay for the day and head home around bedtime. It worked out wonderful and to be truthful, I loved getting to be home and in my own bed.:) After dinner they had a Praise & Worship time, followed by s'mores and a slideshow with pictures of all the kids and the happenings from the day, it was so cute! Then it was time for pj's and we slipped out the door. I thought that perhaps there would be a little bit of tears, but Brooklyn was so excited and tired all at the same time that she literally talked my leg off until she went to sleep. Upon arriving home, we jumped into the tub and then let the kids 'campout' on our floor in our bedroom. They thought this was so wonderful. It was the end to a perfect day. Can't wait until next year.

We've arrived and it's time for some instructions.

Easter Tea

This year we did a little something different, the Saturday before Easter we had an afternoon tea at my sister-in-law Rochenda's house. It was so fun that we have decided to make it an annual tradition.

She fixed a delicious chicken salad with breadstick, veggies, chocolate dipped strawberries, and of course, tea. After we finished lunch and tea, Rochenda set up an Easter egg decorating table and the kids colored and decorated the eggs. My children LOVED it! Before long we were all dipping, coloring, and decorating eggs. We spent most of the day there just talking, laughing, and enjoying being together. It was a wonderful way to start our Easter weekend. So, thanks to Rochenda for hosting the start of many "Easter Tea's" to come. (I apologize, I had more pics of the table, etc. but don't know how to import them from Facebook.)
